From April 14th until May 19th, 2021 Caritas Cambodia and the local Church able to provide food assistance to 9,000 poor and vulnerable families affected by the global pandemic includes constructions workers, garment factory workers, garbage collector, Cyclo, and moto-dup groups, fisherman people whose living on a daily basis in different lockdown areas of Phnom Penh and Takhmao Town. Very much thanks to our Donors, Friends, and colleagues for your solidarity and kindness during this difficult moment. Our little actions are to reduce human suffering, protecting their rights, and lift-up the human dignity of the poor and needy.     In response to the current Covid 19 Situation of Cambodia, Caritas Cambodia and Local Catholic Church provide 4 million Masks and hygiene materials to local authorities, ministries, poorest communities, Parishes in Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kompong Cham, Battambang, Siem Reap, Sihanouk Ville, Takeo, Banteay Meanchey and some affected provinces to combat Corona Virus in the Kingdom. Caritas Cambodia Covid-19 response Actions Phase2 Jun to August 2020: With kindness support and solidarity from our partners/donors and our global Church, local authorities, and the Royal Govt of Cambodia, Caritas Cambodia able to provide inclusive respond to the most urgent humanitarian needs by reach out to 5,954 poor and most vulnerable families, especially those who lack of financial means to purchase food, returned migrants workers, prisoners, daily wage earners who lost their job, etc. during this Covid-19 pandemic in ten provinces of Cambodia including Battambang, Kandal, Takeo, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Preash Vihear, Kampong Thom covering three dioceses. Each family received 20kg of rice, 1 box of instant noodles, and 10 canned fish.

COVID-19 pandemic is a global challenge that daunts the entire humanity. Children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disability (ID) may not understand the situation and might be anxious by the change in the routine of not going to school and being confined to home for long hours. This could add to the stress and worry of parents in times of crisis as of now.
The Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (Caritas-CCAMH), a public-private partnership between the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Cambodia and Caritas Cambodia, an international NGO has been organizing free consultations, art-based activities to children, and yoga sessions to mothers during the Autism Awareness Week for the past many years.

Caritas-CCAMH endeavors to creatively engage with parents, caregivers and others helping children with ASD to empower them to negotiate the COVID-19 pandemic during the Autism Awareness Week this year. Please log in to the social media communication, Caritas-CCAMH Facebook Page (CCAMH Cambodia) to get information on how to explain the school-closure to children with ASD and/ID, guidelines on home-safety and visual schedule and corona-dance for hand-hygiene!

Phase 1: Prevention Plan, in response to the current situation of the spread of COVID-19 in Cambodia and in conjunction with the Royal Government’s prevention plan, Caritas Cambodia has prepared an urgent solidarity preventive action plan to provide hygiene and sanitation materials (63,936 soaps, 820 mask boxes) and 30 thermometers, 75,200 awareness-raising posters to its stakeholders (relevant miniseries, perishes, NGO partners, communities), aim at promoting awareness and hygiene practices, safety and protection within target communities.

Caritas-CCAMH organized a workshop on Social Inclusion on 16th& 17th March 2020 at the Caritas Youth Development Center (Caritas-YDP), Takhmau which was facilitated by Dr. Richard Rose, Professor Emeritus, University of Northampton, UK. The objective of this workshop is to reflect together and understand the situation of social inclusion in Cambodia to identify the factors that lead to exclusion and remove the barriers to social inclusion through planned action-research projects. 19 persons, 13 men and 6 women from various Caritas projects (Caritas-CCAMH, Caritas Cambodia National Office, Caritas TEH), St. Paul University-Takeo and Safe Haven Siem Reap joined this workshop. Many of the participants work with children/persons who is excluded either because of disabilities or other situations such as disasters in Cambodia. Research Seminar on "Social Inclusion in Cambodia" is held on Wednesday 11-12 March 2020 at Saint Paul Institute Takeo Province. About 140 participants from academic institutions, students, researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, people with special needs and other stakeholders are invited to attend and share their research and development works, experiences and lessons learn pertinent to the interests of social inclusion. It also enables them to share emerging issues and new developments of their work with and to strengthen networking and coalition with their peers and other stakeholders.

As every year we always celebrate the International Women’s Day that falls on March 8, however this year, Caritas Cambodia’s Youth Development Program and Caritas National Office on Friday 6 March 2020 outlined a key message in the run-up to celebrating the 109th anniversary of International Women’s Day, under the theme “Peace Promotes Gender Equality” with beloved 150 participants from the Cambodia Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CCAMH) staff, YDP staff, parents of a disabled child with special needed, local authority, youth, senior youth, and Caritas National office staff.
This important event is led by Ms. Hang Rady, Assistant Director of Caritas Cambodia at Youth Development Program Center, Kandal province. Gender and Anti-trafficking Manager Ms. Tek Sopheak said the aim at the pre-anniversary celebration at the Center is twofold, firstly, To take part in the fight against absolute trafficking in all forms of human trafficking, labor exploitation Promote the protection of basic human rights, especially the rights of women and children, and together build peace. Secondly, To establish a meeting between teachers, graduated youths and youth who are learning skills in Youth Development Programs of Caritas Cambodia to connect, communicate, solidify and create a culture of sharing.

The Dissemination Workshop on “Result of Integrated Community Develop Program 2017-2019 and Launching Program 2020-2022 ” is held on 19th February 2020 at Preah Vihear City, Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia. About 100 participants from the Agriculture cooperative (AC), Village Development Association leaders(VDA), key farmer, Production group leaders, Poor farmers, NGOs partners relevant Gov’t institution, Caritas Cambodia staff, and evaluator to come together to learners the ICD Program intervention strategy and program results (Outcomes and Impacts) and discus on an effective strategy for promoting enabling environment for producers group and AC’s businesses. Moreover, the objective of the workshop is
(i). To share the overall achievement and the result of evaluation on the outcome and impacts of the Integrated Community Development Program 2017-2019. (ii). To provide ACs/VDAs opportunity to share and learn the good practice, lesson learn and obstacles related agriculture production groups, market linkage, and community mobilization and business developments during program implementation. And (iii). To provide space for NGO partners, relevant government agencies, and executive staff discuss and sharing an idea and recommendation for strengthening program intervention strategy, future collaboration and partnership between key stakeholders and create enabling environment for agriculture producer groups and agriculture cooperative (ACs).

However this year we choose 14th February 2020 for The World Day of Prayer for Peace 2020 under the theme “ Together It Is Possible To Break The Chains Of Slavery“ and celebrate “Valentine’s Day“ with beloved 80 participants from the Cambodia Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CCAMH) staff, youth and staff from Youth Development Program, parents of a disabled child with special needed, accountants from 7 provincial offices and Caritas National staff together to celebrate the International Day of Prayer. This important event was led by Mr. Kim Rattana, Executive Director of Caritas Cambodia at Youth Development Program Center.

Approximately 720 people include Teachers, students, parents, indigenous people in community protected area, ministry of Environment'staffs, the provincial department of education youth and sport and local authority are joining together in front of Sre Y primary school on this sunny morning. Everyone’s excitement was profound in the air; show as to hope and appreciated with new achievement in Sre Y school included a school and new resource center building with add the green school and sanitation concept with full equipment of solar water pump, standard toilet, Water Purification System and organic school vegetable gardening.
The Sre Y school is the perfect school is not only for learning Khmer language but include life skill through real practice in school and indigenous culture conservation and sharing the experience of communities. Sre Y Primary School located in Sre Y Village, Sangkat Romney, Sen Monorom city Mondulkiri province was officially inaugurated on 22nd January 2020 presided by H.E Say Sam Al, Minister of Ministry of Environment. The inauguration is part of the achievement carried out by Caritas Cambodia with the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Project under-supported by the German Government Development Program through Caritas Cambodia

The retreat of the Catholic Alliance for Charity and Development in 2019 (CACD) is held on Monday, 13th January 2020 at Caritas Cambodia office Phnom Penh. About 40 participants representing the member organizations are welcomed to the retreat meeting presided by Bishop Oliver Schmitthaeusler, Vice Chairman of Caritas Cambodia. Members of CACD meet at the regularly-scheduled meetings, usually held every three months to discuss key issues being raised out among members, to share the updates from each member and to plan for joint activities on certain issues. This retreat meeting primarily discussed on “Be a Peacemaker”.
